About Dual Taper Technology on TOUGH LOCK™ Retaining Heads

Are the TOUGH LOCK Retaining Heads backwards compatible with older Tregaskiss MIG Guns?

TOUGH GUN™ and TGX™ Air-Cooled MIG Guns with the mating taper on the gooseneck are compatible with the retaining head. 

If your gun is more than 3 years old, it may have the old style gooseneck without the taper. The new retaining head will not thread all the way down on this older style of gooseneck. 

Refer to the photo to the right that shows both styles of goosenecks to verify which gooseneck you have.

Will the TOUGH LOCK Retaining Heads cost more? 

No. Pricing for the dual taper retaining heads is EXACTLY THE SAME as their single taper versions.

How can I tell the single taper retaining head from the dual taper design?

The dual taper heads have several identifying features:

• Black o-ring (single taper TOUGH LOCK Retaining Heads have red or green o-rings)
• Double score mark around circumference of retaining head just above the clip
• Part number roll-marked along the bottom edge of the retaining head
